Entry وزن

1 وَزَنَ It (a thing) was heavy: (Msb:) or outweighed, or preponderated; syn. وَجَحَ. (TA.) 3 هٰذَا يُوَازِنُ هٰذَا This is equiponderant to this. (S.) 8 اِتَّزَنَهُ He took it, or received it, by weight. (S, * Mgh, Msb, K. *) See an ex. voce سَنْجَةٌ. الوَزْنُ A certain star in the left fore leg of Centaurus. (Kzw.) See حَضَارِ. زِنِىٌّ , rel. n. of زِنَةٌ. (S, art. وعد, q. v., voce عِدَةٌ.) وَازِنٌ : see رَاجِحٌ: heavy: (Msb:) or of full weight: (KL:) pl. وُزَّنٌ: see زَالٌّ. You say, دِرْهَمٌ وَازِنٌ (S) A full, or complete, dirhem: (so in a copy of the S:) [a dirhem of full weight: a heavy dirhem. (PS.) وَزَّانٌ A weigher. (TA, in art. قسط.) مِيزَانٌ A weighing-instrument; (TA:) a balance; a pair of scales.
