صٓ ۚ وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ ذِى ٱلذِّكْرِ

SAD. I CALL to witness the admonishing Qur'an.

Saad* – By oath of the renowned Qur’an, (Alphabet of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.)

Sad [These letters (Sad etc.) are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the Quran full of reminding.

Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation!

Sad. I swear by the Quran, which is full of reminders of God, (that you are a Messenger).

بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى عِزَّةٍ وَشِقَاقٍ

Ahmad Ali

But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility.

the faithless indeed dwell in conceit and defiance.

In fact, the disbelievers are in false pride and opposition.

nay, but the unbelievers glory in their schism.

Nay, those who disbelieve (are) in self-glory and opposition.

Verily those who disbelieve are in vainglory and shism.

Nay, those who desbelieve are in false pride and opposition.

Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance.

In fact, the unbelievers are the ones who are boastful and quarrelsome.

Bali allatheena kafaroo fee AAizzatin washiqaqin

Those who deny the truth are steeped in arrogance and hostility.

But the Unbelievers (are steeped) in self-glory and Separatism.

كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ فَنَادَوا۟ وَّلَاتَ حِينَ مَنَاصٍ

How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape.

How many a generation We have destroyed before them! They cried out [for help], but gone was the time for escape.

Many a generation We did destroy before them – thereupon they cried out whereas it is not the time to escape!
